  Beulah Brinton opened her house to new immigrants to Milwaukee in the late 1800’s. She had a tennis court built on the side of the home for recreation, opened her personal library to everyone, taught English, sewing and other skills and even provided some medical care. Her personal library became the first public library in the village of Bay View. (It was absorbed into Milwaukee in 1886.) Today the tennis court is gone and the Bay View Historical Society maintains records from the village. (These can be viewed on weekday afternoons or by appointment.) There is a small gift shop.
  
  Parking can be a bit of a problem as the building is located in a residential neighborhood.
