I've been at Eastbrook since 1987 when I was in High School. I married at Eastbrook and we are raising our kids at Eastbrook. I currently serve in the Worship ministry and am wrapping up 2 terms on the Church Council. Eastbrook is in my blood. While certainly not perfect, we walk with our steps ordered by the Spirit who works with the Father and the Son to sanctify us each day. Our "special sauce" is the mixing of nations, races, blue collar/white collar, city/suburban, rich/poor, Democrat/Republican - a glimpse of heaven here on Earth I believe.
Let us know what you think and if Eastbrook is not your "cup of coffee", we can recommend other churches in the area that might be a better fit. The church is not a zero-sum game...weekly worship and a steady diet of fellowship are essential to our individual and collective walk whether at Eastbrook or somewhere else. Let's find the church God wants for you!Added June 10, 2017 by Chris Weida - ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Eastbrook is a wonderful community of believers with a focus on encouraging folks in their walk with the Lord, teaching the Word of God in a way that is relevant for today's world, and showing true care for needs in the city - and the world. Eastbrook is also a safe place to come if you have questions about God - or aren't even sure if God is real.
One element that makes Eastbrook unique is that it is truly a multi-racial, multi-ethnic church.
The children's programming is truly wonderful as well. I've loved being involved in the church's Foster and Adoption Support Team and worship/music ministry.Added March 28, 2017 by William Druliner - ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
The Living Waters class was the worst experience I ever had at Eastbrook. I attended this church for over a quarter of a century, but this was awful. It was a manipulative and judgmental experience shrouded in spirituality of the worst kind. I was told I wasn't repentant enough, I didn't appear sad enough. I didn't appear to be engaged in true worship. I was questioned as to why I did not go up and touch the large wooden cross at the front of the room during penitent prayer. Really? Homosexuality is not acceptable at Eastbrook, and this class offers to "pray your gay away." This was not my personal issue, but I was mortified to see others forced to share their sins in front of the group and then be barraged with rhetoric to "break the oppressive grip of unwanted homosexual desire." Just wrong. I will not return to this church as long as this class is being offered and supported, along with such hurtful and backward positions on sexuality.

I grew up at Eastbrook and I now have the pleasure of serving on staff here. What brought me back to Eastbrook after living in Chicago for a few years is the authenticity and diversity of Eastbrook.
No one is perfect here, and no one hides their messiness. I truly feel like I can be myself at Eastbrook and that I'm not judged for pursuing my relationship with God, even in spite of my failings. People are unapologetically authentic and transparent, something that I appreciate. No one is putting on their "Sunday best" to attend a service at Eastbrook, we are just a group of people trying to learn together how to best proclaim and embody the love of Jesus Christ in the city of Milwaukee and in the world.
In terms of diversity, Eastbrook is one of the few places in the segregated city of Milwaukee where there is effortless diversity: racial diversity, ethnic diversity, national diversity, socioeconomic diversity, all of it! What makes Eastbrook unique in terms of diversity, though, is that there's almost a new culture here in which diversity is just the accepted norm, and we almost don't even need to talk about it. It's effortless!
Anyways, that being said, it's a pleasure to work on the Eastbrook Church staff. This isn't the right church for everyone, but it's right for me. Milwaukee has such a great Christian community that if it's not the right church for you, I know you will find a great fit somewhere else!Added August 07, 2016 by Liz Carver
